Samir Brikho

Chief Executive

Appointed chief executive in October 2006, Samir has spearheaded a strategy to transform AMEC into a leading supplier of high-value consultancy, engineering and project management services to the world’s energy, power and process industries. In May 2008, he was appointed Chairman of the UK Energy Excellence Board, launched by UK Trade & Investment, the UK Government’s international business development organisation.

Born in the Lebanon in 1958, Samir moved to Sweden where he holds citizenship. Much of his career prior to joining AMEC was at ABB, where he was latterly a member of the Group Executive Committee and Chairman of ABB Lummus Global.

He holds a Master of Science degree in Thermal Technology from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.

Career history

  • 1983-1999: Various senior positions at Asea and ABB in Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Dubai,  Switzerland and Germany
  • 2000-2003: Senior management roles at Alstom in Belgium, France and Germany
  • 2003-2006: CEO of ABB Lummus Global, Switzerland
  • 2006: Head of Division, Power Systems; Member of the Group Executive Committee of ABB Ltd., Switzerland; Chairman of ABB Lummus Global
  • 2006 to present: Chief Executive, AMEC plc
