Pfizer required a pilot scale manufacturing facility for the development and GLP validation of biological manufacturing technology. The new facility will support their veterinary vaccine manufacturing in Australia and New Zealand by testing and developing manufacturing processes, processing, and formulation of bacterial (1:10 scale) and viral (1:3 scale) vaccines.
The key objectives which the facility had to deliver were, multiple product and process testing and development, compliance with Health Safety and Environment (HSE) regulations, Good Laboratory Pratice (GLP), Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) and Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) compliance, refurbishment and upgrade of existing building and exacting engineering design.
