AMEC project manages PetroChina Guangxi Refinery project

PetroChina Guangxi Refinery Project (PGRP) is a world scale, world class grass roots 10MM te/yr refinery project based in Qinzhou,Guangxi Autonomous Region in the Southern part of China. This is strategic move by PetroChina to extend their influence to cover the southern region of China, neighbouring the prosperous Zhujing delta of Guangdong and Fujian provinces. With an excellent natural deep sea harbour facility, the crude can easily be brought closer to site via super tankers from Sudan and Middle East Countries. The project consists of eight major refinery units from UOP and a 200 kt/yr Polypropylene plant from DOW.

As the project management contractor in the basic and detailed engineering, procurement and construction phases, AMEC’s scope of work includes provision of:

• Overall management
• Engineering management , including design safety management
• Procurement and material management
• Contracts management
• Construction management
• Project controls (planning, cost and document management)
• Risk management and implementation
• Quality management
• HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) management
• Training and development

AMEC’s team has been awarded as the 2009 AMEC Chief Executive Officer’s HSE Excellence Award and 2009 AMEC Chief Operation Officer’s HSE Excellence Award for for the implementation of HSE improvement programs that resulted in achieving 20 million man-hours without a Lost Time Incident.
