Students and placements
Although we offer a small number of summer placements at AMEC, opportunities are generally limited and are often over-subscribed. Much as we would like to be able to offer everyone an opportunity, unfortunately we don’t have enough places so preference is normally given to applicants known to people who already work here. On the rare occasions when we do still have places to fill, we will advertise them on this page.
Currently we have no postings to list
In addition to any postings listed above, within our Nuclear business, we have a limited number of summer placements each year for undergraduates studying engineering, physics and chemistry. In particular we welcome applications registered on Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Physics degree courses. If you are would like further information, send us an email to Nuclear graduates. (nuclear.graduates@amec.com)
If you are interested in a longer-term career with AMEC, visit our Trainees and Apprentices section to see if there’s anything that may be of interest.
In the meantime take a look at other types of opportunities available to help you launch your career.
UK Undergraduates - £4,000 Scholarships - Undergraduate scholarships for Mechanical Engineering students (currently this scheme operates only within our Nuclear business)
To encourage outstanding students who are resident in the UK to undertake the study of mechanical engineering to professional level, a number of scholarships are available through the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
- Are you studying A-Levels, Highers / Advanced Highers, International Baccalaureates, or equivalent qualifications and expecting excellent results?
- Have you received an offer of a place on an IMechE accredited full-time degree programme to commence in September / October?
- Are you expecting to gain 340 points or above, in a maximum of four different science related subjects, with A or B grades (up to two of these may be AS levels, which must be A grades), excluding General Studies?
If so, you may be eligible for an award of £4,000 (usually paid annually for a maximum of four years, excluding industrial placement years).
