On 20-22 January 2009, in Houston Texas, Smithers Rapra Technology Ltd and sister company, Springborn Smithers Laboratories, hosted the REACH USA 2009 conference.

AMEC co-sponsored this conference and was there in force to answer your questions. In attendence was a contingent of AMEC's toxicologists and risk assessment specialists, including Dr. Brian Magee, Dr. Chris Mackay, Dr. Russel Okoji, Mr. Mark Chappel (DABT) and Mr. John Schupner. 

Dr. Brian Magee spoke in the Supply Chain Communication session on the topic: Strategies and Experiences for Global Article Manufacturers. 

The session provided strategies for global companies that manufacture articles, such as appliances, that have no intended substance releases. Such companies must register few, if any, substances. However, their business relies on an ongoing supply of many substances, and these substances must be registered by others if manufacturing occurs within the EU. The session outlined the relevant REACH requirements for and presented the strategies and experiences of a global article manufacturer.
