Regulatory compliance
AMEC provides a wide variety of regulatory compliance services to commercial and government customers. These include both water quality and quantity services and range from being site-specific to watershed wide solutions.
The services fall broadly into two categories -- watershed-wide services and stream corridor services.
Watershed-wide services
AMEC's watershed-wide compliance services encompass those services that are of a regional, programmatic, or site-specific nature, that are not specifically stream corridor services. These services include National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater permit compliance, spill prevention and response, and the development of community wide programs such as sediment and erosion control programs.
NPDES municipal stormwater permits
AMEC staff worked with USEPA during the promulgation of the Phase I rule by attending public meetings and assembling and responding to public comments. AMEC has been involved in the development and presentation of several statewide training programs on the Phase II stormwater rule and are currently assisting a number of impacted communities in the development of compliance programs. The services provided to municipal permittees have included:

- Outfall identification and gis mapping
- Stormwater monitoring Illicit connection screening
- Stakeholder involvement
- BMP program development
- Ordinance development
- Funding program development
AMEC is developing an implementation program for the Phase I NPDES stormwater permit that was issued jointly to the cities of Reno and Sparks, Washoe County, and the Nevada Department of Transportation. The stormwater management program is being developed as a regional effort through a series of stakeholder workshops.
NPDES Industrial Stormwater Permits
AMEC’s staff has supported industrial customers in their compliance efforts with the NPDES stormwater rules, ranging from trade organizations to military facilities.
AMEC assisted the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) in the development and implementation of a statewide NPDES permit compliance program that included evaluation of maintenance facilities, development of SWPPPs, illicit discharge evaluations, and training of NCDOT employees. AMEC is currently evaluating BMPs for retrofit opportunities statewide.
Spill prevention and response
AMEC has provided spill prevention and tank management services to a wide variety of commercial and public sector customers. These services have grown to include the development of integrated contingency plans that address all environmental contingencies required for a specific site.
AMEC has developed SPCC plans for more than 78 Air National Guard bases in 48 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico under a national contract with the National Guard Bureau.

In support of the regulatory needs of our customers, AMEC has performed a variety of compliance projects, including:

Watershed protection programs
AMEC has assisted customers in the development of compliance programs for watershed protection, including:
- Water Supply Watershed Protection
- Compliance with Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDLs)
- Watershed Master Planning for Water Quality and Flood Protection
Stream corridor services
AMEC's stream corridor compliance services include those services that are specifically related to stream corridor regulations. These services include wetlands permitting, in-stream water quality protection, floodplain services, bridge scour evaluations, and others.
In-Stream water quality services
AMEC employees have provided customers with services related to in-stream water quality and riparian habitat management.
Floodplain Services
AMEC has a 15-year history of providing floodplain services to both government and commercial customers.
Bridge Scour
AMEC is one of the premier service providers for bridge scour evaluations and remedial action plans in the United States. We have provided services in five states.
