What are brownfields?

They are abandoned, idle, or under-used industrial and commercial facilities or sites where expansion or re-development is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination.

In Canada alone, there are an estimated 75,000 potentially valuable properties unclaimed or underused. Negative economic implications include reduced tax revenues, reduced potential for development and employment, and overall aesthetics.

AMEC brings many years of experience in innovative environmental engineering and science to remediate brownfield properties and assist in returning these properties to clean, productive use.  AMEC has a blend of professional engineers, environmental scientists, risk assessment specialists, hydrogeologists, infrastructure specialists, and program managers ready to support your Brownfields initiatives.
