AMEC’s Power and Process division serves customers in the following sectors:
AMEC provides services to the new build, reactor support and cleanup sub-sectors. We are providing increasing levels of nuclear consultancy, reactor services and project management to a growing number of customers in the UK, Canada, South Africa, Eastern Europe and other locations worldwide.
This sector comprises conventional (coal and gas) power generation, as well as power transmission and distribution. We hold strong market positions in AQCS (air quality control systems) on both sides of the Atlantic and in high voltage transmission line in the UK.
Our renewables experience is focused around power generation using sustainable resources, including wind, biomass, biotech, carbon capture and storage. We are working increasingly with power developers, utilities, financial institutions, governments and renewable technology developers in this field.
This sector represents roughly 50 per cent of our activities. We are active in gas storage, transmission and distribution, the maintenance and turnarounds on petrochemical plants as well as other end markets such as forest industries, cement and biofuels. Our centres of excellence in the UK and North and South America position us ideally for organic growth in these rapidly expanding markets.
Strategy for growth
We have established ourselves ambitious development targets. Achievement of these targets will be supported by AMEC’s Operational Excellence programme. Initiatives in this programme encompass specific engineering, project management, supply chain, and strategic relationship management activities. Operational Excellence will improve and grow our best -in-class processes and create a common culture within AMEC and Power and Process.
