Abdy Khanpour joins AMEC as U.S. nuclear lead

ATLANTA (24 April 2012) – AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, announces today that Abdy Khanpour has joined as Vice President and U.S. Nuclear Lead. In this role, he will be responsible for expanding the company’s established global nuclear business in the United States.
Prior to joining AMEC, Mr. Khanpour was Vice President of Engineering & Projects for Florida Power and Light Company, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Inc., where he was responsible for engineering strategic direction, and leading all engineering technical services and personnel for five nuclear plants. His career also includes management positions with Excel Energy, Energy North West, PSEG Nuclear, Progress Energy/Carolina Power, Arizona Public Service Company and Bechtel Power Group.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master’s in Civil/Structural engineering from Mississippi State University. He is a registered professional engineer in Arizona and earned a Senior Reactor Operator Certificate at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.
