AMEC awarded £70 million asset support contracts by SABIC UK Petrochemicals

London, United Kingdom (10 January 2012) – AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has been awarded two asset support contracts by chemical giant SABIC UK Petrochemicals Limited.

The first is a £30 million asset support contract for plant turnaround services for SABIC’s petrochemicals assets at Wilton and North Tees in the North East of England. The award, an extension to an existing contract,is for planning, preparation, execution and management of resource and supply chain for major turnarounds and will run through to 2014. It includes SABIC’s Aromatics, Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and Olefins plants.

The second is a three year, £40 million extension to an existing integrated maintenance contract, also at Wilton and North Tees, which will also run through to 2014.

Both contracts will be managed from AMEC’s Wynyard office,and together will secure continued employment for over 220 personnel in the North East and create up to 500 new jobs on the plant turnarounds.

In 2010 AMEC was awarded SABIC’s EHSS (Environment, Health, Safety and Security) global award for contractors and in2011 AMEC won a 'Special Category Award' at the North of England Excellence Awards (NofEE).
