How to find the ‘headers’ and ‘router’ data for email messages

AOL

  • Click on the Inbox to see the list of your messages
  • Right click on the suspect email. Click on the “View message source” in this menu
  • The full headers will appear in a new window
  • Copy and paste the header information into a new email message and add the original suspect email as an attachment and send to: careers@amec.com

Microsoft Outlook

  • In your Inbox, locate the message for which you would like to view the headers
  • Right-click the suspect message, and select “Options”
  • Select all of the text in the “Internet Headers” section
  • Copy and paste the header information into a new email message and add the original suspect email as an attachment and send to: careers@amec.com  

Windows Live Hotmail

  • When you log into your email account please check that you are not using the classic version of Windows Live Hotmail. If you are using the classic version then follow the steps below
  • Click on the "Options" tab on the top navigation bar. Under Options you will see the following message, "You are using the classic version of Windows Live Hotmail. Have a fast connection and want more features? Try the full version to see message previews in your inbox." Click on the "Try the full version" link
  • Click on "I want the Free Upgrade" button
  • Once using the full version: Click on the Inbox to see the list of your messages
  • Right click on the suspect message
  • Click on the “View message source” in this menu
  • The full headers will appear in a new window
  • Copy and paste the header information into a new email message and add the original suspect email as an attachment and send to: careers@amec.com

Rediffmail

  • When you log into your email account please check that you are not using Rediff Classic Mail. If you are using Rediff Classic Mail then click on the link, “Take me to the new Rediffmail" on the top right corner just before the link for “Upgrade to Rediffmail Plus”
  • Click on the Inbox to see the list of your messages
  • Click on the suspect message and open the email
  • Click on the link for ‘Show full Headers’
  • A new window will open displaying the header information
  • Copy and paste the header information into a new email message and add the original suspect email as an attachment and send to: careers@amec.com  

Yahoo! Mail

  • When you log into your email account please check that you are not using Yahoo Mail Classic. If you are using Yahoo Mail Classic then click on the link, "All New Mail" on the top right corner just before the link for Help
  • Click on the Inbox to see the list of your messages
  • Click on the suspect message and open the email.
  • On the top banner of the email message you will see "Actions" and an arrow next to it. Click on this arrow and then click on "Full Headers"
  • A new window will open displaying the header information.
  • Copy and paste the header information into a new email message and add the original suspect email as an attachment and send to: careers@amec.com

Gmail

  • Click on the Inbox to see the list of your messages
  • Click on the suspect message and open the email
  • Click the down arrow next to Reply, at the top-right of the message pane
  • Select “Show original”
  • The full headers will appear in a new window
  • Copy and paste the header information into a new email message and add the original suspect email as an attachment and send to: careers@amec.comquam
