The 99 megawatt Erie Shores wind farm, located near Port Burwell on the north shore of Lake Erie, is one of

Canada’s largest wind farms. AMEC erected all 66 of the turbines to a tight schedule, within a year of executing the contract. The work was performed on schedule, on budget and resulted in our recognition as the consultant and contractor of choice for Ontario wind farms.

The wind farm utilizes 66 General Electric 1.5 megawatts wind turbines. The enormous 85-metre tall wind turbines are connected electrically by underground and overhead lines to a new electricity substation, connected to the provincial grid.

AMEC, and our joint venture partner Black and McDonald, are leaders in wind farm engineering and construction in Ontario. Our joint venture has been recognised as a provider of world class engineering and project management services for wind farms. In addition to AMEC’s work as part of the joint venture, we provide full service solutions to developers and owners. AMEC has been involved in the majority of wind farms constructed in Ontario since 2002.
