Hydro
Hydropower offers a clean, renewable and sustainable source of energy with great potential to contribute to the renewable energy portfolios in many regions of the world.
AMEC has the in-house capability to develop small run-of-river schemes to medium-sized hydropower projects, and upgrade existing facilities to take advantage of the latest technologies.
The United States currently has an installed capacity for hydropower of approximately 100,000 megawatts, with 60,000 MW of identified potential. Canada, with an installed capacity of approximately 70,000 MW, has identified potential of 160,000 MW. The potential for sustainable development of this resource is vast not only in North America but also in South America and Asia.
For over a century, AMEC has provided a broad range of services to utilities and private developers for hydroelectric and water resource projects in many locations around the world. Hydropower services include initial development concept, site investigation, feasibility, conceptual design, environmental assessment, detailed design, permitting, construction, commissioning, operation, monitoring, maintenance, upgrades and improvements.
