AMEC delivers projects around the world. To do that, we understand how mines and process facilities work, and we know how to design for safety, efficiency and ease of maintenance. This is the heart of our business. We design innovative solutions, maximize performance and control costs for our clients.
We know how to build what we design and we build successful projects. We have the construction and project management resources to tackle projects of any size and we have been responsible for project logistics in some of the most remote parts of the world. Our experience has shown that logistics represents a significant portion of overall project costs, and is a critical factor in project success.
From the Arctic to the rainforest, we have demonstrated our ability to meet our projects’ technical, construction, operational and environmental challenges. Project execution and logistics planning, attention to detail, safe behaviours and capable management, have been the keys to our success.
Safety is of paramount importance in everything we do. We have a strong safety culture and a comprehensive OHSAS - compliant safety management system forms the basis for our safety management program on every project. We continuously strive to improve our safety record, driven by a company-wide program that emphasizes communications, lessons learned, and personal behaviours.

History
Today, AMEC’s minerals and metals roots are truly global. In North America, H.A. Simons acquired CESL and MRDI in 1994 and 1995 before being acquired itself by AMEC in 2000, as part of AGRA. In Australia and Africa in 2009, AMEC acquired Minproc, an international engineering and project delivery business, with over 30 years experience in the study, design, procurement and construction of minerals resources projects.
