Highways and roads
AMEC has supported government transportation agencies, national and local customers and private developers in Canada and the US for over 50 years. We assist our customers to optimise road capacity and existing networks through concept and statutory approvals, planning, design, engineering, project management, delivery and ongoing operational support.
AMEC provides complete multi-discipline services for highway and road projects covering planning, environmental impact studies, permitting, surveying, geometric design, traffic engineering, drainage, bridge designs, geotechnical engineering, pavement engineering, stormwater management, construction management, and construction materials QA and QC testing.
Our scientists and engineers develop infrastructure focused on longevity and environmental stewardship. For example, AMEC’s pavement engineering specialists undertake pavement management work involving hot and cold in-place recycling, processes that not only reduce consumption of natural resources but also minimize carbon emissions.
AMEC’s asset support to highway networks includes design, installation and operation of Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS), which enable transportation agencies to optimize winter maintenance activities.
We have delivered dozens of major road schemes as complete design packages, and we provide expert construction management, quality assurance and contract administration on behalf of government transportation agencies.
AMEC provides engineering, quality assurance and environmental services on highway projects developed under alternative project delivery models including Design Build, and Public Private Partnerships (PPP). Our clients include Agencies, Design Build Contractors, Concessionaires and Lenders.
