Decommissioning

"From decomplexing to decommissioning and through to disposal, AMEC’s late life approach adds value by helping to maximise the recovery of resources as well as focusing on the safe delivery of best value abandonment work at the end of the life cycle."

Decommissioning

AMEC’s decommissioning capabilities span a number of sectors. We have substantial experience of decommissioning and waste management in the UK, Canada, Eastern and Western Europe and the former Soviet Union. We offer a complete range of nuclear services that span the full lifecycle of any decommissioning project, from developing the initial concept through to hands-on decommissioning and clean-up.

AMEC is the UK’s leading private sector nuclear specialist. In addition to project management, we also provide in-house specialist services, such as safety case and health physics support. As a result, we can act as a single supplier, delivering the full range of skills and services necessary for the successful completion of any decommissioning or waste management project.

Today, skills honed for the nuclear sector have been transferred to the mature assets of the North Sea where we project manage and engineer the decommissioning and removal of oil and gas production facilities onshore and offshore. That includes all the front end technical studies, environmental assessments, verification of cost provisions, engineering - including advanced structural analysis - and, ultimately, full project execution.
