Brownfields and the new energy economy

Brownfields are often ideal locations for new power production capacity, biofuels production and green buildings construction as they are often near to water, rail, electrical utilities, and a supply of experienced labour.

AMEC has been working with Biox Corporation to develop a biodiesel facility on a Brownfield site on the port lands of the City of Hamilton in Ontario Canada, including everything from environmental to full engineering construction.

Our experience with integrating new energy developments into brownfield redevelopment includes: ethanol plant site selection and permitting; energy-from-waste developments; development of co-generation power plants; wind and solar power design; and integration of ground-source heat pumps into new building construction.
