Weather forecasting

AMEC has developed a weather forecasting service that meets the needs of customers operating in weather sensitive industries and in severe environments.

AMEC’s weather centre is headquartered in St. John’s, NL with satellite forecasting offices in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Ottawa, Ontario. Forecasting and consulting services to industry and government clients are delivered on a 24/7 basis.

AMEC has developed a weather forecasting service that meets the needs of customers operating in weather sensitive industries and in severe environments. Key customers include five Canadian provincial governments, oil and gas companies drilling offshore, energy companies, and NAV CANADA.

Our personnel, forecasting systems, procedures, weather monitoring and verification systems have allowed us to achieve an industry leading level of accuracy. Performance metrics are typically provided to our customers through monthly or program-summary reports.

AMEC commits significant resources to the ongoing training of professional staff. Over the past several years, AMEC has engaged in the development of a sophisticated meteorological information management system. All forecast personnel participate in applied research projects.
