Targets and objectives

At a corporate level, our target is to have no environmental regulatory action. Regulatory action implies that we have failed in controlling our environmental impact.

We track performance through our environmental indicators, including both regulatory actions and incidents that required notification to regulatory authorities but did not result in any action.

Environmental targets and objectives are formulated around each individual ISO 14001 compliant system, as required by the standard. This means that every ISO compliant business sets local environmental targets and objectives that are dictated by the unique circumstances within the business unit and designed around their environmental conditions.

During 2004 we challenged all of our businesses to integrate environmental target setting into the AMEC Agenda 21 processes. Local targets include energy efficiency, waste minimisation, transport and resource efficiency, and are driven by significant criteria unique to each business.
