Human rights
Rationale

It is not acceptable to abuse the human rights (as laid down in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights UDHR) of an individual or group of individuals. As a company, if we fail to operate in a manner consistent with the UDHR we expose our company to significant risk such as:
  • Risk of litigation (civil or international)
  • Reputational risk
  • Employee action (staff morale or dissatisfaction)
  • Financial risk (withdrawal of funds or loans)
  • Reduced client / investor support
  • Negative media coverage

Managing our impact on human rights is simply part of good business and this approach is gaining international recognition, in particular with our financial stakeholders, where a number of significant partners have voluntarily signed up to the Equator Principles, a move that AMEC supports.
