During the year, AMEC employees continued to support local charities of their choice and a variety of ways of raising money were undertaken, from climbing mountains to walking marathons. In all, AMEC donated and matched funding totaled £217,000, which was less than the pervious year. However, 2005 included donations for the Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and the earthquake in Pakistan and AMEC staff donated a record amount of money to international crisis organisations.
AMEC once again nominated Water Aid as the charity of the year and in total, a combination of direct donation and employee matched funding, raised £6,000. Again, AMEC contributed to the CRASH and CRISIS "No Christmas Card Appear" with a combined donation of over £12,000. During 2007 there will be a review of how AMEC selects and supports nominated charities.
AMEC retained close links with both Engineers Against Poverty and Engineers Without Boarders and our Business Development Director continues to serve on the EAP Board of trustees.
