Sustainability in AMEC going forwards
With a changing business and global environment it is time to thoroughly review the sustainability programme to ensure that the Guiding Principles remain relevant as the business refocuses. AMEC's sustainability programme will need to ensure that it focuses attention on the areas of principle risk, is in tune with key clients, business issues and AMEC's new strategy.
As the business changes, AMEC will need to consider the most appropriate management structure to ensure that sustainability remains a high priority and making sure that all operations are involved in this transition period. Plans are already in place to give operational divisions a greater accountability to report sustainability issues and this will be reflected in the style of reporting in the coming year.
AMEC will also be assessing the impacts to the organisation as a signatory to the Global Compact. The UN Global Compact will help AMEC to focus on internationally important sustainability issues.
Finally, AMEC will continue to provide support to the Built Environment businesses to ensure that there are structures in place to evolve and grow a stand-alone sustainability programme to fit the future needs of these businesses.
