Being successful requires AMEC to be managed in an effective and efficient way and managing sustainability issues is simply part of an effective management system.
|
Being effective does not simply mean that the company does not lose money and maximises profit, but that does not unfairly exploit any stakeholder or harm the environment. True sustainability is some way off since the economy still centres around carbon, environmental damage is largely external to costs and social inequity remains a global issue. However, this does not stop AMEC from aspiring to do better against its core sustainability performance targets.
AMEC has a robust management and policy framework with systems in place to ensure that they work effectively. The company undertakes regular interactive engagement with stakeholders at both corporate and business unit level to measure perceptions of AMEC's management and to share experience.
