Sustainability performance report 2007
Employment, Diversity, Training & Investment
AMEC's employees are its most valuable asset, it is their skills that customers value; in particular, AMEC's ability to deliver complex projects safely, on time and on budget. This year has been an exciting time to be an employee at AMEC, there has been much change and this change has seen new opportunities for employees.
AMEC continues to find ways to promote and develop a workforce which is representative of the places in which we operate. We also continue to play an active role in the UK skills debate and this year both the Chief Executive and members of the Senior Management Team joined government-led initiatives. It is vital to ensure that we continue to work with educational establishments in the community to promote careers in the energy and engineering sector in all our major geographic regions.
This year AMEC was delighted to report that its Power and Process UK and Europe division won the UK Skills National Training Award in recognition of the exceptional achievement in the training and development of our Overhead Linesmen in the safety critical, power transmission market.
This year our employment data trends have been significantly impacted by the changes within the business and the sale of the Built Environment businesses.
