Sustainability performance report 2007

Ethical conduct / Accountability

Ensuring the highest standards of ethical conduct from all employees is fundamental to AMEC's success. Any company who does not maintain such standards can face a major risk to their reputation. High standards of ethical conduct provide a company with benefits such as strong relationships with stakeholders and a positive reputation. Reputations can be made or lost on the actions of a single employee.

Educating the workforce about ethical matters is is crucial to maintaining AMEC's reputation. All senior managers must be kept up to date and informed about any ethical risk issues that may affect the business.

Setting a clear standard of behaviour is also at the heart of effective management of ethical risk. Our Code of Business Conduct sets out AMEC's standards for ethical behaviour as well as outlining the company's overall commitment to behaving in an ethical manner.

AMEC encourages employees to challenge unethical behaviour in the workplace. As part of the Code of Business Conduct, all employees have a personal responsibility to highlight corrupt behaviour to AMEC management and a confidential ethics help line is available to bring concerns about lack of ethical behaviour to the attention of management.
