Providing local engineering resources and international expertise in Chile.
South America represents a significant market for growth and geographical expansion for AMEC. Our presence began in 1995 in Lima, Perú with an office providing a full range of services to the mining industry. Four years later, fuelled by our impressive growth and stable client base, we established AMEC International (Chile) S.A. in Santiago, Chile. This coupled with the recent acquisition of CADE-IDEPE has made AMEC one of the largest engineering companies in Chile.
Our pool of 1,000 professional engineers and project managers provide consulting, feasibility studies, design, engineering, programme and project management and construction management services to our customers in Chile and throughout South America. Our teams’ insight and experience in every facet of the mining and metals, forest industries, energy and transportation sectors mean that we are able to enhance our customers’ projects and are consistent with the safe delivery of our projects.
Our international network of offices means that we are able to distribute engineering tasks when needed to our specialists throughout the world, so that our customers benefit from our experts wherever they are based. This is an important differentiator today and will continue in the future as we look to increase our capacity and expand our geographic footprint. We have implemented this approach on some of our most important projects we are currently working on including Andacollo copper-gold mine and the CMPC Cellulosa Fiberline Plant and many others.
“That we could construct this mill without any safety or environmental problems, start it up and bring it to full production in world record time, and operate it today with complete transparency for the authorities and our customers, is a grand tribute to all involved,” Sergio Colvin, Managing Director of CMPC Celulosa
